Another reason I love getting up early to make these images is to experience the absolute stillness of some mornings where not a breath of wind or a ripple on the water can be found.
This was the case with the above image where if you look closely you’ll see someone else enjoying the stillness of a summer morning as well.
Fellow Tabor Academy alum and Mattapoisett resident Chip Johns is paddleboarding through the middle of the mooring field creating the only ripples on the mirrorlike Mattapoisett harbor that August morning. I wasn’t really sure it was him until we were catching up at the Mattapoisett Historical Society / Mattapoisett Land Trust Community Potluck event last summer on the Land Trust’s Munro property overlooking the harbor. These are 2 great community organizations that do important work protecting and preserving what is special to Mattapoisett. For every copy of Good Morning Shipyard Park, exactly different, every day Volume 2 purchased, I will donate $5 to the Mattapoisett Historical Society in support their joint event with the Mattapoisett Land Trust.
I love when people “stride by” or paddle through my images. Thanks Chip!
